I can't even begin to imagine the trauma you're still struggling to process. I hope you get some room to breathe and all the kitten cuddles you need.

Yeah, she'd definitely feel safer in a crate than just being let loose. But she was quite depressed and withdrawn by the end of her time in the outdoor enclosure, despite it being much bigger with more enrichment, and I am not sure how she'd adapt to even more restricted digs plus new stressors.

We'll probably start with a crate in a room where the other cats can be shut out, or allowed in one at a time. She's now microchipped, so it might even be possible to install one of those programmable cat flaps.

It also doesn't help that she's still scared of everyone except me. I'm considering getting a really big crate so she can have her own territory indoors and get used to everyone from a safe place, but I am not sure how she'd feel about being shut up again 🤔

Our first and most intransigent feral girl Rhea, finally allowed out of her post-surgery recovery pen, contemplates becoming an inside cat. It took years to get to this point. IDK how we're going to fit her in considering we have too many cats already, but we'll figure something out.

The matriarch took a long time to win over, but these days, she thinks she's my kitten. That took a bit of a knock when I betrayed her trust and took her to the vet (twice - she also had eye surgery, which needed a follow-up visit), but she has finally forgiven me again. So I'm optimistic.

These two cuties were trapped in our garden the other day and taken to a rescue. Mum is still around but very wild, so we couldn't find anywhere who could take her too 😞 Guess I'll just have to trap her and work on winning her over myself so we can get her spayed, as I did with our feral matriarch.

It's only an hour's drive away for us, we're just a bit disorganised, lol.

Taking two of my daughters (or at least, one daughter + one mostly femme-presenting non-binary chidlet) to MONA tomorrow for the final day of the Ladies' Lounge installation. Very much looking forward to it. We keep saying we should go more often, then somehow another year has gone by before we do.

Oh, how annoying! Mine did that at least once during the course of the aforementioned saga. I prefer today's malfunction, TBH. And at least the mechanic was able to get my door operational for the time being, and is going to look for a new (second-hand) lock mechanism to replace the bodgy one with.

Talked to a locksmith, who recommended seeing a mechanic instead, so I am at a local workshop where they have disassembled my door and been very polite about my ancient and derelict hulk.

I have had problems with my central locking for a while, but in today's installment of the saga, I have managed to lock myself *in* my car. I could climb out the passenger side because it's only a problem with my door and none of the other doors are locked, but jeez. What a stupid problem to have.

Mine is at least an edible problem to have, I guess!

It has taken me several weeks, but I have finally conquered the blackberry hedge along the side of the driveway, and it looks so much better out there now! I still have to trim the bank on the opposite side, but that's only grass. Front yard doing slightly less violence to local property values now.

I'm only doing anything this year because my kid wants to, and is now a better cook than me anyway so is doing most of the meal.

I unschooled my three. Oldest went to kindy and struggled before we withdrew her. They all went into the school system (their choice) for years 11 and 12, and adapted with varying levels of ease, but I think it would have been a nightmare any earlier. Sorry it wasn't an option for you.

👋 I've only had covid once, to my knowledge, and it disabled me for over a year.

I put the next appointment in the calendar, at least.

Made follow-up appointment with GP re new ADHD meds. Did not put it in the diary. Forgot to reply to SMS the day prior, or call to check the time. Rang half an hour after appointment time to find out. Luckily, GP is used to me and managed to fit in a phone call. Conclusion: meds not working yet.

At least it only lasted the afternoon and early evening - and no fires blew up in that time, thankfully. Now the rain has hit!

Hot, sunny, and the wind is coming up. I dislike this combination.
