From my walk the other day. Are shadows not part of the things that cast them?

We live in a flat without trees directly outside the windows, so there are no natural shadows. I've placed vases of dead branches in all the windows so we still get shadows in the golden hour.

For some reason these lamp posts always remind me of Howl's Moving Castle 😅

A pencil illustration on tan paper I did today sitting on a path by the river near our flat. A lovely family and their kids stopped by to chat about how the kiddos were into art - it made my day.
