Compared to other species, Ipotanes like Orobas seem more...pure. Their ability to levitate objects seem more derived from an enigmatic water source even Ipotanes themselves do not understand, rather than genetic, much like coral planulae who have yet to acquire the photosynthetic properties of their algae symbionts.

Anna is the closest to an exception cuz canonically she and Geoff have 5 kids over 2 pregnancies.

Many of the merfolk of Orchidea traverse through the canals and underground tunnels that lead to various ponds and pools dotted throughout the town. Former subway stations and sewers in the distant past, these repurposed hyporiparian("under-river") channels are constantly exanding to allow merfolk to traverse inland as well as bringing water to drier regions.
I think I may have just doxxed where Casey and her family live, Orchidea is a sub-tropical coastal town teeming with species from all walks(and swims!) of life!
