Feeling big FOMO not being at PSANZ opening ceremony tonight in Brisbane. This is the first PSANZ conference I won’t be at since 2009.

Have a fabulous congress everyone!
See you in Perth in 2026.

Intraventricular Hemorrhage and Survival, Multimorbidity, and Neurodevelopment This cohort study analyzes associations of intraventricular hemorrhage with survival and neurodevelopmental outcomes among infants born at less than 29 weeks’ gestation in England.

Important paper using NNRD data to show increasing IVH in extreme preterm population in England.

Thrilled that our ECLAT trial, led by a neonatal nurse Anna Kidman, has been voted @ebneo.bsky.social impact article for 2023.

Anna graduated with her PhD just before Xmas. Her supervisors @drbretty.bsky.social, Risha Bhatia, Prof Peter Davis could not be prouder of her achievements.

Very excited today to be an invited speaker at Global Obstetric Update #GOU2024 today in Melbourne.

I’ll be talking about an app we developed to predict outcomes following extremely preterm birth.

Another excellent paper from Jeanie Cheong and the team from the CRe in Newborn Medicine, reporting results of the LaPrem study, reporting neurodevelopmental outcomes in moderate to late pteterm infants, 32-36 weeks’ gestation. Being born β€œa bit early” does impact outcome.

On this day, we remember you all. I’m so lucky to have chosen a career that allows me to have so many different roles over many years- from cot side in NICU, to neonatal transport, to education, academia, & research.

There simply is no better job than caring for preterm babies & their families.

I’ve thought long & hard what my first post on #Bluesky should be.

But given its World Prematurity Day, November 17, this seems the most fitting.

After 35 years of caring for preterm babies & their families, today I acknowledge all the babies, some in their parents arms, others in their hearts.
