In Austin we had mockingbirds. In springtime, if a male hadn't found a mate, it would sing early, early in the morning nonstop. If you know how loud they are you can imagine what it's like to have them in a tree or on a pole right beside a bedroom window. I love mockingbirds but not at 3:30am.

The reason she's in our pack is that our neighbor got a puppy not too long after we lost the last of our pack. After a few months I had to ask where they got her because she was such a lovely little dog. And soon we had our own!

You have a digging up roses story; we have a mulch story.

What a beautiful story of love to share with us. Thank you. It feels like I got to know you and your little pack a little.

We have an about-12 pound almost-12 year old cavapoo who has been such a joy for us. A great little breed.

A house on the corner of 2 streets is completely wrapped in gray and blue striped tarp for fumigation.

When I had my sunrise walk yesterday this house was just as I would expect it to be, and I saw the owner drive away. Yesterday afternoon it was "giftwrapped"!

I realized I needed to ground myself in data-driven, history-based reading, and original sources as available. Also, I found myself becoming angry and hopeless, and couldn't even find evidence of some of the things SA said, even if they sounded likely to be true. It was just a preference, really.

Back in my twitter days (dropped it like a hot potato the day the sale went through) I was following him. I traded him out for people like @gelliottmorris.com & @the-downballot.com, and kept reading @hcrichardson.bsky.social & @pkrugman.bsky.social. I find other good articles as needed & feel saner.

Maisie's a good little traveler but by the end of the flight over the Pacific Ocean to Hawai'i, she'd had enough of the interior of her travel kennel.
