AI will eat many jobs, many it should not, but mine - I think we look forward to that day. When it's ready to truly do this work in a way that doesn't require daycare-level supervision. Maybe that's the door. 🚪

We don't last long. Now in my 9th year as a healthcare defender, I've been able to beat the average. I still look for the door, and I can't find it, not yet. The world spins on, I spin on.

Because otherwise, this is a pretty deflating existence. Success is really hard to come by. Some days you are looking the death of your organization right in the face. Maybe worse, in the health sector.

The seeds grow at different rates, and sometimes they take and sometimes they don't. You just keep making the rounds. Some of the seeds will become great things, but not many. But you do have to keep an eye out for those things, the rare great success stories, and use them to anchor your work.

This job is about covering ground. There is no opportunity to fixate on a given discipline of technology. There is no time. You are, in effect, throwing seeds. You move across as much digital earth as you can, engaging as many people as you can, scattering seeds.

I had some existential bordering on Jack Handey deep thoughts brewing yesterday on this profession of 'cybersecurity', and I dumped them into facebook4jobs as one giant paragraph, which no one really saw because it doesn't conform to their slop-friendly formula. So I'll chunk it up here ⬇️

Even if one concedes that language learning can be transformational, the grand vision of modern automation's benefits can never materialize if its stewards are foundationally fucking terrible human beings disinterested in the contours of empathy. If we're not talking prominently about that, we aren't really talking at all.
