We will coordinate with scientists from around the world to better represent these feedbacks in climate models—helping to inform the IPCC’s 7th Assessment Report (AR7) and other key processes.

Despite their potential to significantly accelerate warming, these warming-induced emissions are largely absent from climate models, carbon budgets, and global policies.

That makes them a big blind spot in climate science & policy.

As the planet warms, ecosystems like permafrost, wetlands, forests, and soils are expected to release more GHGs—while their capacity to absorb them is weakening.

We are inviting the land surface modeling community to participate in a new Warming-Induced Greenhouse Gas Emissions Model Intercomparison Project (WIE-MIP) and launching a grant program to provide resources to modeling teams

Methane Action for People & Planet: From Discovery to Solutions

Researchers, policymakers, and practitioners are invited to register interest by Nov 15, 2025.
