For what it’s worth, Trump absolutely does not speak for most Americans on this.

Americans know that allies like the UK, Denmark, Canada, and others showed up when NATO’s Article 5 was invoked after 9/11, and that they paid a real price in lives and resources.

Russia should never be rewarded for brutally annexing any Donetsk, Luhansk, Crimea. If Putin’s concern is about “protecting” ethnic Russians (the majority there), keep the regions Ukrainian & offer autonomy, bilingual schools, etc. Look @ Südtirol/Alto Adige as example. But we know: Putin is lying.

No border shall ever be moved with violence and war. Putin cannot win, we must roll up our sleeves and pay for all that is necessary to make sure of that. The rule of law and democracy must prevail, for Ukraine, for Europe, for our children, for humanity. Anybody rewarding Putin, history will shame.

My believe is that land should not be taken by brutal force. And that fashists should not be rewarded, ever. Where ethnic composition is mixed, diversity should be celebrated and at the admin level, some degree of autonomy can help such regions prosper. But Crimea is and should always remain Ukraine
