Identity checks, surveillance, humiliation, violence.

In our new joint booklet with @enareurope.bsky.social we document how racialisation operates at and through Europeโ€™s internal borders - with testimonies from the Basque Country, France/Italy, Germany, Croatia.

Last week, civil society organisations, advocates, activists and progressive politicians gathered to say no to the EU Deportation Regulation - right in front of the European Parliament.

This law is about scapegoating undocumented people for problems our leaders won't solve - from climate change to collapsing welfare systems.

Help us put humanity, solidarity and common sense back on the table.

The European Parliament will vote on this law in the next days.

Help us stop this:

The draft text also requires member states to deploy broad detection measures, which could take the form of mass surveillance, racial profiling, immigration raids and reporting obligations.

The EU Deportation Regulation ushers in a dystopic detention and deportation regime, with people being sent to countries they don't even know. It imposes harsh sanctions on people living with irregular status, limits access to national permits and will ultimately increase irregularity.

Days ago, in Ravenna, Italy, police raided a hospital and launched an investigation against doctors who refused to ok immigration detention for undocumented people, citing health reasons.

Home raids. Mass surveillance. Racial profiling. With 80+ organisations, we're opposing the new EU Deportation Regulation.

The proposal would expand immigration raids + surveillance and turn public spaces + services into tools of immigration enforcement.

๐Ÿšจ Top UN human rights experts have signed a letter to EU institutions denouncing human rights risks in the EU Deportation Regulation.

This is a damning condemnation of a draconian measure that sees and treats migrants as a threat.

We hope more governments will follow this example and invest in policies that protect, empower and include people, and make societies stronger.

This move is a powerful reminder that regularisation is not only possible - it works, and itโ€™s the right thing to do. For thousands of undocumented people who have built their lives in Spain, this could mean dignity, stability and access to basic rights.

Applicants must have been living in Spain for at least 5 months, with various documents accepted as proof, and must not have a criminal record. The measure โ does not require approval by the Congress.

Successful applicants would get a one-year residence permit, after which they would be able to access a permanent one.

We needed this news SO MUCH โค๏ธ

The Spanish government has announced today a broad regularisation programme which could benefit around 500.000 people.

At a time when a hostile environment against migrants is spreading on both sides of the Atlantic, this move shows both humanity and common sense.

2025 has not been an easy year.

Yet even amid repressive policies, solidarity and resistance continues to break through.

On this International Migrants Day, we share the stories that inspired and encouraged us this year.

The Councilโ€™s position goes against basic humanity and EU values. Now it is up to the European Parliament to reject this approach. Migration governance must be rooted in dignity and rights โ€“ not fear, racism, or exclusion.

This so-called โ€˜Return Regulationโ€™ ushers in a deportation regime that entrenches punishment, violence, and discrimination. Instead of investing in safety, protection, and inclusion, the EU is choosing policies that will push more people into danger and legal limbo.
