It was a pleasure to talk housing innovation with Ellen Grist of the Housing Festival & Lucy Wood of @agilehomes.bsky.social at UWE School of Architecture.
Bristol is an innovation hotspot!
We talked about homes not βunitsβ, ending homelessness, community-led housing & Carbon & Social Value Trading.
We recently submitted a planning application for 14 homes & Common House for Halton Senior CoHousing group, but this one is a little different!
We call these homes Tam, & they can move!

Four people - three men and a woman - stand at the front of a room behind some chairs. They are all smiling at the camera. Behind them a screen reads ' Unlocking the potential of SME developers and community-led housing to solve the housing crisis.'
Four people present behind a desk at the front of a room. The photo is taken from the back with a full audience in front of the speakers. One speaker in a shirt and tie is stood up to present
A big thanks to all who joined our event at the @libdems.org.uk conference, especially our speakers Alison Ward, @tweeteco.bsky.social,
@gideonamos.bsky.social, @vmmchamberlain.bsky.social
We had a thoughtful discussion together, exploring exciting possibilities & most importantly, solutions!

Thank you!
Acoustics are exceptional. Low VOCs & formaldehyde, improve air quality. Reduction in radio frequency interference, eg WI-FI does not propagate through the external walls, which for some is helpful.
Moisture management, rendered straw walls breathe moisture in sync with the environment.
Cohousing with a difference!

Carbon & Social Value Trading.
Whatβs that?
An affordable home has become the oxymoron of our time!
Itβs time to think differently about how we deliver properly affordable homes.
At Agile Homes weβve created a new finance flow we call CSVTs.

Itβs hot! π₯΅
Living in a straw bale home in this weather would be crazy, right?
Wrong!
Straw changes its moisture content in sync with its environment.
As it does this, there is heat exchange at a cellular level within the fabric of the straw itself!
It keeps you cool in summer & warm in winter!

Schumacher said βSmall is Beautiful - economics as if people matteredβ
At Agile we agree but with a subtle difference! Instead we say:
Small is Beautiful - housing as if people & nature mattered!
And it turns out others agree!

With perfect timing on the same day Rachel Reeves announced Β£39 bn for new homes, we signed an agreement for a significant investment. Iβd like to say we planned this with the Chancellor, but I canβt! Instead itβs a synchronicity win!
The investment comes with a Β£25 m fund to pay to build new homes!

Neighbouring!
Neighbour is a verb, neighbour is a doing word.
