Editor friends: I can highly recommend this new @efafreelancers.bsky.social course, Line Editing of Commercial Fiction: Advanced, expertly taught by Amber Helt. It was a challenge that exceeded my expectations and tested my skills, exactly what I'd hoped for. Can't wait to share with my authors!

I'm excited to share that I'll be looking after our French neighbour's cat, Cocotte, for a few days next week! I have not met Mlle Cocotte yet, but do know that she likes her meals to be served twice a day, at 9.30 a.m. and 5 p.m. I am not expecting to have to cook for her, but unsure at this point🐱

I should say 'and edited, too'.

'suggest', 'consider', 'what do you think to ...?', 'do you agree that ...?', 'just to give you an idea', 'along these lines' ... I'm sure many of us have our favourites. I'm always keen to learn some new ones, too!

It was really interesting - and reassuring! - to hear everyone's different approaches.

I recently watched the ACES webinar that @mollyrookwood.bsky.social presented on antisemitism (one word, never hyphenated) and not only was it interesting, I learned a lot too. Essential advice and information that all editors should be aware of.

I'd add don't underestimate how tiring the online experience can be, and don't plan to work either during or the following days. There'll be plenty of recorded sessions still to watch, and it's likely your head will be spinning with ideas - make the most of it while it's all fresh in your mind!
