Blood Bikes Santa Run 2025 - Day 2

On our Santa Run today we visited South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust & County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust

Jane Palmer Day Hospital, South Tyneside District Hospital, Sunderland Royal Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham.

Yesterday our volunteers have began spreading some festive cheer to the first of the Children’s Wards we will be visiting in our Blood Bikes Santa Run 2025.

On our Santa Run yesterday we visited Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Our new hybrid Blood Car got a good tour of the North East for its first operational shift last night. Alongside our volunteer driver they visited the RVI, Freeman, QE, Sunderland Royal, NSECH and NHS Blood Transfusion completing 9 jobs.

Today our second hybrid vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, went into operational service​. This vehicle replaces one of our other cars, that we recently retired from the fleet, and we chose to continue our journey into the realms of hybrid vehicles.

As the white stuff falls across the region it’s business as usual for our team of volunteers out on the roads. Although our blood bikes have been stood down our blood cars take their place. Just a bit of extra time at the start of the shift to get the vehicles ready for action.
