About the poem, Jennifer writes; "I wanted to illustrate the richness of my ancestral heritage and the ways in which language itself can empower one and open illuminating possibilities. In this poem, fire is a symbol for rebirth and resurrection, purification and transformation."

Her large tapestry blanket featured in our exhibition Just Browsing was based on her beautiful abstract painting βThe Black Hills of Dakotaβ. The piece depicts the rocky mountain ranges in Dakota, and was inspired by the song of the same name from one of Lauraβs favourite films, βCalamity Janeβ.

Laura Aquilina is a visual artist who enjoys drawing and painting landscapes inspired by her favourite books, TV shows and films.
Aquilina is part of Studio Me, Blue Roomβs artist development project & has been building on her painting skills to create large paintings, murals, screen prints & more.

Carla Wright is an artist who works with ceramic sculpture and sound exploring community and shared spaces. She creates ceramics that are able to 'do things', have an elements that allow people to interact with them beyond just looking, like her colourful stools in our exhibition Just Browsing.
