In this panel, the PJM market monitor states plainly that data centers are almost exclusively to blame for high and rising wholesale electricity costs in the Midatlantic. It's not EVs, heat pumps, or industrial electrification. Data centers. Panel discusses how to make Big Tech pay their fair share.

This week is an opportunity for a Democrat to emerge as a leader and voice of conscience, leading up to 2028.
Who will forcefully denounce Israel and Trump's illegal war with Iran? Who will connect the dots to the failed War on Terror and Operation Ajax and US meddling? Who will reject AIPAC money?

Netflix Backs Out of Bid for Warner Bros., Paving Way for an Ellison Takeover
The richest man owns X.
The second and third richest men control Google.
The fourth richest man owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
The fifth richest man owns The Washington Post.
And now the sixth richest could soon take over both Paramount and Warner Bros.
See the problem here?

This is lovely and affirms something I say all the time: Stories matter. Even kinda silly ones you watched as a kid (I have a long list of those, ones I still fondly rewatch sometimes).
They show us what to emulate, what to fight against, how to better ourselves, how to see through others' eyes.

NSF Intent to Restructure Critical Weather Infrastructure
The US NSF has put out a "dear colleagues" letter that is essentially a yard sale list for @ncar-ucar.bsky.social
It asks questions such as, who'd like to take over some of NCAR's programs? Is anyone interested in commercial use of the Mesa Lab?
If you have thoughts, send them to NSF_NCAR@nsf.gov

No one has yet talked in depth about Mamdani's play- as in, a childlike wonder and ceaseless fun and joy. That is rooted in what he learned from his mom about acting, which is pure play. Everything he does is rooted in encouraging US to be more playful, too. It's wonderful.

"But space presents its own set of problems.
Data centers generate enormous heat. Space seems to offer a solution because it is cold. But it is also a vacuum, trapping heat inside objects in the same way that a Thermos keeps coffee hot using double walls with no air between them.
βAn uncooled computer chip in space would overheat and melt much faster than one on Earth,β said Josep Jornet, a computer and electrical engineering professor at Northeastern University.
One fix is to build giant radiator panels that glow in infrared light to push the heat βout into the dark void,β says Jornet, noting that the technology has worked on a small scale, including on the International Space Station. But for Musk's data centers, he says, it would require an array of βmassive, fragile structures that have never been built before.β
yeah that ain't happenin'

How the Rittenhouse Rules changed the Second Amendment.

Just No.
1) Immigration judges aren't "judges." They are part of the executive branch.
2) ICE's administrative warrants aren't even signed by IJs.
3) A real judicial warrant is required for arrests in homes (absent exigency). Payton v. New York, 445 U.S. 573 (1980).

ICE Begins Buying βMegaβ Warehouse Detention Centers Across US
Plans for such centers and jails in nearly two dozen communities have sparked protests over suitability, proximity to homes and schools.
BIG news from @bloomberg.com, which confirms that ICE has gone ahead and *purchased* multiple commercial warehouses with the aim of converting them into mass detention camps.
This is likely to be the big detention story of 2026 β literal warehousing of people.
