It is therefore interested in such concepts as queer disidentifications and disbelongings; queer formations of language, multilingualism and translation; queer formations of kinship, relation and sociability (such as those circulating around Stefan George, Charlotte von Mahlsdorf or Audre Lorde)...

This MLA session series examines how these cultures have also produced various queer formations that resist or exceed those twentieth-century discourses that sought to define and regulate homosexual, gay or queer identity. It seeks out formations that destabilize homonationalism (Puar, 2007)...

Through equitable, collaborative work, the Centre seeks to support the visibility of global queer activists, artists, writers, and all those involved in thinking critically and creatively about queer cultures and politics. ahc.leeds.ac.uk/events/event...

Engaging queer topics and methodologies, & a queer ethics of care, the Centre supports researchers, scholars and educators, including postgraduate researchers.

The Centre advances interdisciplinary research in global queer cultures and politics, paying special attention to local histories and intercultural, polycentric, multilingual exchanges, in both contemporary and historical settings.

The programme includes a keynote: 'Queer Anti-Nationalism in Right-Wing Times', by Dr. Alyosxa Tudor, and introductions to the aims of the Centre from the Directors.

(It's been brilliant to work on #WGSPathbreakers with @katherinestone.bsky.social and @laurelplapp.bsky.social. We can't wait to discover pathbreaking German texts that merit intensified scholarly attention, but have been overlooked by conventional publishers, censored or fallen out of print.)

b. Translations from German into English, which may include single works, selections from an individual author, or extracts from the output of multiple authors that will serve to illuminate significant issues in the representation of gender and/or sexuality in German-language culture. (3/3)

a. Critical editions, which may include single works, selections from the corpus of an individual author, or multi-author anthologies by, or that offer fresh perspectives on, pathbreaking German language female, queer and trans culture. (2/3)

Thrilled to announce WGS Pathbreakers, a subseries of Peter Lang's Women, Gender and Sexuality in German Literature and Culture series, that seeks to showcase the cultural contribution of women, queer, non-binary, trans and gender non-conforming writers and artists to German studies. (1/3)
