At the @tekna.no network for developers we are super excited to host @parismarx.com , along with @christingorman.bsky.social and others

We will be focusing on digital sovereignty, but I also hope to be touching on to the Luddite Club, tech tyranny and AI climate issues

Realizing this makes you see what's happening in the US now for instance in a different light. The US is run by such people. You cannot trust these guys. You cannot trust their words. They are not like you. They do not care about anyone but themselves.

One thing interacting with her has taught me though, is that some people are completely selfish and have no shame. These people too often get away with anything because we interpret peoples actions through our own mental models. So we assume they have sensible, humane, kind intentions. They don't.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of thing? What do you even do? Do I dig up my father's grave and replace the contents? Isn't this the most absurd situation? I feel I'm in a soap opera or something.

My step mom sent an urn. In 2018. They lived in the US. I remember thinking - wow, that's an ugly urn with no names or markings of any kind. I guess... she didn't want to pay extra?

Turns out she kept his urn 🀯 I have no idea what we buried... I truly had a cartoon villain level evil step mom.

Know that feeling: You've buried your father's ashes. Had a nice memorial service with friends and family... Years later his wife dies, her son contacts you to let you know "We found your dad's urn, do you want it?"

What did we bury then? Someone's cat?
Know that feeling? No?

Good for you!

Kakemikser, kjΓΈkkendingser, treningsdingser, chatbots,

Jeg vet ikke om det er sΓ₯ mye hΓ₯p, men kan vi i det minste lage litt mindre drit av gangen?

There is no sense in which a chatbot can "help" with your schoolwork by making it easier; if it is easier, it is less useful for actual learning (effortful practice is HOW WE LEARN) and therefore the chatbot has not helped, but has only hindered.

24.02.2026 19:37 β€” πŸ‘ 1088    πŸ” 152    πŸ’¬ 40    πŸ“Œ 6

I understand why chatbot cheating happens but every time I read about it I want to gently remind everyone that the point of schoolwork is not for the submission to exist. Teachers are not just greedy for more essays or solved equations. The point is to do the work WITH YOUR OWN BRAIN, FOR LEARNING.

I don't know enough about it to have a strong opinion. But I am not opposed to countries registering their citizens. I missed that in the UK when I lived there as well. I think it makes sense to know who your citizens are and for citizens to be able to identify themselves.

22.02.2026 15:52 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Well keep it decentralized then. Like US drivers licenses. You don't have to go all in with a centralized federal register like we have in Norway. The point is just to establish that in order to vote, you need to provide some kind of ID of who you are. This should not be controversial.

22.02.2026 15:09 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

There is already a "registry" for people who can vote. You register to vote today. Nobody is (AFAIK) suggesting to remove this. The US could gradually introduce measures that provide more and better election security. I see no reason to object to sensible gradual reform.

22.02.2026 14:44 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

If it were the other way around. That republicans were refusing to implement voter ID, and the democrats were calling for sensible ID requirements, we'd support that 100%.

22.02.2026 14:04 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

But the fact that ther actually isn't any ID requirement to vote in the US made it easier to convince people.
Look, I agree that there's no reason to suspect massive voter fraud has been an issue in the US. But improving election security is a sensible thing to do. We should always aim to improve.

22.02.2026 14:04 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The fact that Trump can reasonably suggest that there is voter fraud in the US caused the January 6th event.

22.02.2026 13:50 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Do you think we should get rid of id requirements in Norway?

22.02.2026 13:39 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Any democratic country should take this kind of thing seriously. Especially when it's being lead by an unscrupulous fascist authoritarian. It's absurd that it's Trump of all people who is the one talking about the voter ID issue. There should be broad bipartisan support for this.

22.02.2026 13:18 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The point is that without voter ID it is hard to detect fraud. There are large swaths of the US population who do not vote. If people register to vote on their behalf, they can have a significant effect on the election.

22.02.2026 13:13 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

They already have a system for registering to vote. All that's missing is that you - when you place your vote - show that you are the person you claim to be. A drivers license would work fine here.

22.02.2026 12:56 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Hang on a sec, why can't they use their driver's licence? That should be sufficient, and that would reduce this number substantially.

22.02.2026 12:38 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

This is the problem they should be addressing! Making it easy to get IDs. They can say "Of COURSE we should show ID to vote, but first, we need to make IDs accessible" Nobody should be downplaying the importance of ID.

22.02.2026 12:35 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

There are good reasons why we have introduced ID requirement for voting in pretty much every other democracy. I don't trust Trump supporters to not abuse the complete lack of election security in the US. I think it is completely insane that they haven't required ID a long time ago.

22.02.2026 12:30 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

What democrats should be pushing for is to make it easier to vote, by letting people vote for a longer time period, like in Norway. Make access to IDs easier (if that's even a problem). Objecting to the very concept of ID is silly, and just plays into the hands of Republicans.

22.02.2026 12:21 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Isn't it though?

22.02.2026 11:56 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I hate the US voter ID debate. I hate Trump, but OF COURSE you should require an ID to vote in elections!
Every serious modern democracy requires you to show an ID before voting. Who in Norway would like us to _remove_ voter ID?
In the US you can even send your vote in by mail 🀯 That's nuts.

I just did the dumbest thing of my entire career to prove a much more serious point.

I tricked ChatGPT and Google, and made them tell other users I’m a competitive hot-dog-eating world champion

People are using this trick on a massive scale to make AI tell you lies. I’ll explain how I did it
