One of the most beautiful and deeply moving books I’ve read this year is Meet Me At the Crossroads by @megiddings.bsky.social.

Even though I’ve been online-only since the pandemic, I’ll miss the community and work very much. But giving up this adjunct role frees me up to spend more time with my sons—when I started, they were babies. And now they’re older teens. 😭 2/2

It’s the end of an era for me—I decided not to return this fall to my adjunct librarian position at a local cc. I’ve been in this role for 14 years and it was a wonderful experience and gave me the confidence to completely shift over to academic librarianship. 1/2

Corey Wiley on Twitter writes: "You don’t get it.
Foundational immigration law is morally just and has been established over millennia. Disrespecting these rules and ideals is very offensive to folks who highly value civilized society"
Not true.
I see you're a luxury watch dealer. I'm also interested in watches. Let me show you how free and easy migration has allowed you to earn a living. 🧵

Really enjoyed the #CCLI2025 conference at our sister campus & library in CSU Monterey Bay. So many thoughtful presenters and wonderful colleagues with whom to reconnect.

Hilarious that the “privacy of thought” article in C&RL asserted that imperialism and colonialism are only tangentially related to libraries. Author was clearly unaware of anti-literacy laws aimed at people of color in the U.S. in the 19th century? Segregated public libraries?

Agree! The writing is regressive and dismissive of critical research (and well, people’s life experiences) related to race, equity, and inclusion in librarianship. “Privacy of thought” < respect and inclusion of historically marginalized people and perspectives in our profession and spaces.

Ugh, she’s retired. I wonder if this would’ve been published if she was still in her current role.

Everyone Is Cheating Their Way Through College
ChatGPT has unraveled the entire academic project.
“Massive numbers of students are going to emerge from university with degrees, and into the workforce, who are essentially illiterate…Both in the literal sense and in the sense of being historically illiterate and having no knowledge of their own culture, much less anyone else’s.”

The American College of OB/GYN’s website is now hosting the critical documents purged by the CDC
This is what every professional medical organization should be doing right now

Sen. Lujan asks RFK if he knows how many babies born in the U.S. are covered by Medicaid. RFK does not know. He asks RFK if Medicaid is a critical program. He says yes but "the premiums are too high, the deductibles are too high." Sir Medicaid is free

Keeping in mind that the ancestors—Black AND queer—survived much more oppressive periods in history. Yes, many didn’t survive. But many did. I wouldn’t be here otherwise. That keeps me going. That and spite—knowing that me taking up space and just existing pisses some people off? Well, GOOD! ✊🏾

Happening now, a transgender sports ban is being heard in Congress.
This ban might ban trans people from dancing, darts, and even chess in many universities.
It'll also target 9 year olds playing soccer.
I'm covering live, follow along with me.

Octavia Butler couldn’t see the future. She saw what was happening in front of her and, in addition to studying the past, was able to imagine where it would lead. It’s important to tell the truth about her because mythologizing her is a disservice to her legacy.
