Plan for learning, not certainty We spend time planning to avoid time adjusting. But great products emerge from trying things, not gathering requirements.

Starting without a plan feels risky, so we gather requirements. We aim for certainty when we understand the least.

Great products are an art of discovery, not perfect planning. What matters most is building and learning quickly.

The differences between climbing books written by men and women is so stark. Most men's books are about great accomplishments and extreme risk taking. Books by women actually observe relationships, leadership styles, and thoughtful discussion on risk taking.

I just finished Freedom Climbers by Bernadette McDonald, which tells the story of Polish alpinism. It's so good! Politics, relationships, and great observations on leadership and ambition. Strong recommendation.

Design tip: stop using jargon

I used to think that using words like “cognitive load” made me sound smart.

But a lot of people don’t know what it means. So when explaining your design to your teammates, use simpler and clearer descriptions like:

Isn't pretty much every fascist cyberpunk novel about how people circumvent the cameras? Like these people haven't watched or read anything.

I didn't go camper but I just traded in the little BMW for a van (full electric!) too!
