not to be all 'ooo im better than everyone' but it genuinely SHOCKS me when i come across people who dont ever reflect. who dont know their intimate, inner world, who go through life so extremely surface level by themselves AND in relationships. like how does that happen??

A graphic print of a Barn Owl peering out from behind a tree heavy with white blossom. The owl’s plumage is rendered in warm browns, golds, and blues, with large dark eyes framed by a pale heart-shaped face. In the foreground, white flowers rise from a bed of green ferns. Art by Matt Underwood.

The tilt of a Wren’s head, the shadowed curve of a hare in long grass. The weight of an owl's gaze... Moments live again in art. 🎨

If I have to explain to you why it's a bad idea to use a machine that makes shit up 15-80% of the time AND destroys the environment AND contributes to rising fascism and genocide AND puts brilliant skillful creatives out of work by stealing their work, then we're already speaking different languages

Someone else said something very similar to this the other day, but.

It really burns me that our (millennials') generation was legally terrorized for like, downloading Radiohead discographies

But we're supposed to be ok with billionaires stealing human intellectual output in its entirety bc AI

i think its just anything they deem 'explicit' :/ theres lots of people that post images of their cats having a disease or something and seeking advice and apparently that classifies 😭 i hate itttt

Two things happened today...

1) The UK brought in draconian new laws requiring adults to identify themselves online (or at a minimum prove their age)

2) The IDs of millions of women who used the Tea app leaked.

If you can't see why 1) is bad when given the evidence of 2), there's no helping you.

these UK laws are CRAZY im expected to give all these apps and random websites my actual ID and do a face scan to view anything slightly suggestive? nah its time to delete the whole internet, this is not even going to stop children viewing dangerous material, just lead them to more dubious places

why does the felling of the sycamore gap tree actually make me cry :( 150 years of peaceful existence, a marvel of nature, all the wisdom it must have held, seeing multiple generations of people and wildlife grow up, and now its just gone for no reason. harrowing symbolism for the current times

A reminder that when the Sycamore Gap tree was cut down people immediately started blaming immigrants and teenagers...

It was neither. It was two white Englishmen in their 30s.

in many areas, life is about balance and some people just have too much black and white thinking when it comes to these nuanced topics πŸ˜”

BUT THEN once we were able to shake her off, we ran into one of our neighbours who we havent met yet. hes a lovely old man whos a butterfly enthusiast and told us about his life story living in malaysia, teaching, local plant life and where to see certain butterflies and it was so refreshing πŸ₯Ή

and the fact that its so difficult to find likeminded people who love foraging, understand that theres so much value in connecting with your food and where it comes from, see the benefit in alternative medicine but also arent conspiracy theorists who reject modern medicine makes me sad :/

02.05.2025 14:33 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

she also believes that chemotherapy is mustard gas?? all these really harmful beliefs about modern medicine. and i just sigh because i genuinely love a holistic approach to health and i believe in the power of ancient plant knowledge but at the same time i also know that modern medicine saves lives

i mentioned how sad it is that its seen as a weed when it holds so many great health benefits for humans and also how good it is for pollinators. then we talked a bit about hollistic healing and botany which was fun but THEN it turned out she was a conspiracy nut who believes vaccines cause cancer πŸ’€

had the STRANGEST interaction yesterday followed by the most WHOLESOME one and it kinda gave me whiplash 😭
while i was out foraging for dandelion, this woman approached us and mentioned how healthy dandelion is and how great it is that we're foraging it. we then had a quick chat about dandelion

in being alive, you inherently hold value. don’t let capitalists convince you that you must provide labor or resources for them to be considered valuable, to be shown respect. that’s their lie

A creative tribute to Emily Williamson, featuring a sepia-toned photograph of her as a young woman. She appears in period clothing, poised with one hand resting on a book. Behind her, a faded blue original emblem of the Society for the Protection of Birds, which she co-founded, includes illustrations of various birds in flight and perched, encircled by the society's name.
