Black sand beach with some graupel on it (cross between snow and hail) - the incoming waves have pushed it into some nice squiggly patterns. In the distance are some dark mountains and a storm over the sea.

I learnt a new word today: graupel, a cross between snow and hail - tiny soft balls of snow! Graupel fell on the beach at Stokksnes last night, and the waves continued to come in and made nice squiggly patterns.

A long wooden pier stretches straight out into the calm waters of Lake Chiemsee. At the end of the jetty, two slightly older people stand close together, gently leaning against one another while looking out across the lake. On a small side platform to the right, two women sit side by side with their feet near the water, quietly talking and watching the lake. Soft ripples move across the water, and beyond the far shore the hazy silhouette of the Snow covered Alps rises beneath large, sunlit clouds in a blue sky.

In vast landscapes, humans suddenly look small — yet moments like these feel very large.
