My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.

(15 in Manhattan btw)

RFK Jr.-Backed Vaccine Panel Advises Against MMRV Vaccine for Young Children New members of a key committee tweak routine childhood vaccine guidance as some states and insurers go their own way.

RFK Jr. is objectively pro-disease, pro-illness and pro-child death.

I'm not on the east coast so not entirely familiar with your insects. But im a pretty good insect IDer. This is a leaf footed bug (Coreidae). Not a stink bug for sure. Some leaf footed bugs can also produce odor though just FYI.

Golden hued landscape of a bay with green rolling hills behind it. It's early morning and the sun rays ar just pushing through from the right side of the frame. Leaving glowing streaks across the landscape.

After a very long week I went through more New Zealand photos. Here is a landscape in the Northland I just love. Wish I could be there again now.

The whole point is not just the state disappearing whoever they want, it's you being in the habit of accepting the state choosing whom to disappear, without question. It's submission to the state. Same as with Gitmo after 9/11. The state's judgment must not be questioned.

Scientists have just cured pancreatic cancer in some patients with personalized mRNA vaccines. Pancreatic cancer. And this Trump administration wants to throw it all away.

They’re throwing away a cure for cancer.

NEW: Sources tell my office that Treasury Secretary Bessent has granted DOGE *full* access to this system. Social Security and Medicare benefits, grants, payments to government contractors, including those that compete directly with Musk's own companies. All of it.

β€œIf the freeze is not stopped, I might lose my house."

Some NSF-funded postdocs are having trouble paying rent and credit card bills because their salaries were paused this week, even though the federal funding freeze memo was rescinded.

A quick reminder: For every $1 of research funding, NIH generated $2.46 in economic activity. This includes funding jobs in all 50 states. This isn't a red/blue thing: 8.9 jobs per $1M in CA & 12 jobs per $1M in GA. #AcademicSky #PhDSky #MedSky #HealthSky #healthequity #SciComm

A pic of one of my favorite groups of bees, the green metallic sweat bees (Agapostemon spp.). And a reminder that planting native flowering plants is a great way to affect positive change in your hyper local community. (Winter is a great time to seed on rainy day) The native bees will thank you.
