You're also making a false equivalence between a couple passages from Hebrew Bible texts (which were not written from a monotheistic lens) and the New Testament which is monotheistic but has no texts ordering executions.
The Bible isn't one coherent thing, nor is Christianity.
There is no one true static version of Christianity, it's constantly changing and being reinterpreted in new contexts. You don't have to like or even respect it, but people have dedicated themselves to finding and living out versions of Christianity that are liberative to them and their communities.

24.02.2026 05:43 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Liberation theology has been around since the 1970s and the social gospel movement since the 1870s. There's a lot of work that's been done in liberative, feminist, and queer Christian theologies, but the Christofascists have worked very hard to discredit and erase that history.

β¨Story Time!β¨
Families are already moving to Multnomah County because of Preschool For All. They see how the program which is helping them set down roots now, will also help put them in a position to pay into it to help future families, creating a virtuous cycle and a healthy, thriving community.π
Interesting that they interview a random security guard who drives but not anyone who actually takes the 72.
And speaking as someone who drives on 82nd nearly every day, I would much rather be taking a faster, more consistent bus.
This is easily the hardest thing I've ever had to write.
09.02.2026 16:58 β π 528 π 168 π¬ 31 π 43Does this mean our law limiting overnight detentions is also backfiring on us? Because people have legally have to be moved to Tacoma so quickly if ICE wants to keep them overnight? Or does it help get some people released?
09.02.2026 14:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0What does ICE being out of Portland mean practically under a Republican trifecta though?

Or they'd just open another ICE field office elsewhere in the metro area, which seems to defeat the whole "ICE out" thing.
I want ICE abolished, but removing facility at this moment in time would hurt the wrong people.
Meanwhile, immigrants with mandatory check-ins would have to drive much further away for their appointments and many local efforts to provide legal resources to those going into appointments become irrelevant because one of the key places people get connected has been removed.
08.02.2026 16:25 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0If we shut the facility down in Portland, ICE can still operate within Portland. They'll just be taking people directly to Tacoma, removing the opportunity for people to access their lawyers while still in the state.
08.02.2026 16:25 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0obviously ICE didn't want to use tear gas but a couple people might have yelled uncivilly and thrown water bottles at a cement building and it's those people's fault ICE had no choice but to commit war crimes against a bunch of nine year olds and their grandmas.
