All they do is appear in a cutscene, call Sora a loser and disappear. Xaldin in KH2 had more relevance in a disney world than all of them combined.

Also I don't think 3's disney world plot relevance is that much higher than 2's to begin with but the disney worlds in 2 are still the more memorable ones due to having better gameplay.

There's not a single KH3 disney world mob or boss fight that stands out to me

KH2 still has the midpoint part, which while low on story is still a great setpiece that's arguably more memorable than anything in 3.
Everything memorable in 3 is thanks to buildup from previous games. I don't think 3 really achieved anything remarkable as a standalone title except the Final World

Like I wish Nomura was the crazy unhinged storyteller/writer people online like to pretend he is cause frankly, when I played through KH3 I was just bored out of my mind

KH3 by contrast doesn't have any mystery at all. We know where Aqua, Roxas and Namine are. We know who all the villains are, but instead of following any of these plot threads the game just tells us to go screw around and find the power of waking and then it turns out it was inside you all along

The problem though is that so much of KH1&2's narrative is built on mystery. We don't know any more than Sora does so we just look for Riku and Kairi throughout the Disney worlds and get active plot development throughout.

But also, isn't reasonable for fans to expect the series to do better instead of regressing?

Also idk how much the excuse of "it's a KH game" actually holds since to my recollection the only game that literally backloads everything to the end is DDD? All the other entries structured their stories at least better than KH3.

Not to be a KH2 shill but KH3 desperately needed a middlepoint to focus on the story. If KH3 just had one single original world that had as much effort and work put into it as a disney one then I think alot of peoples' gripes would have been alleviated, at least in terms of the story.

Yeah, the finale where all the characters got like 5min of screen time in a 25+ hour game

and you wonder why people feel disappointed after waiting 10+ years to see those characters again?

The entirety of KH3 is just
"oh cool, will we get to follow Riku and Mickey as they search for Aqua in RoD?" Nope

"will we get to follow kairi and lea as they're training?" Nope

"Will the story focus on how Roxas will come back?" Nope

Instead we just screwed around in disney filler for 20 hour

Like idc at all about FF character being in KH, but it's so funny whenever Nomura is asked about their absence in KH3 he always goes like "well we have so many original kh characters now and we wanted to focus on their stories," and it's like where the hell was any of that focus on them?!

I like pretty much all the characters and still think KH3 was rushed and executed extremely poorly

The world would have been so much brighter if we got like 6 Monster House sequels instead of all those Harry Potter films

Yeah, but I think all the Disney worlds just made it more apparent how KH3 lacked any original explorable worlds which are usually the most memorable parts of any KH game and what sticks in people's minds and what they recall fondly

I don't think that's been confirmed yet, people just assume so because the poster seems to tease it. They've put teasers and foreshadowing in promotional material in the past so I'm hoping for the best, but yeah it would be disappointing if they just skipped straight to the end
