I never understood why people put that much stock in it. Theyre just people doing the same exact thing everyone else is. The hobby is still the same and that popularity dies when the game dies. Its a nearsighted thought process to be popular strictly on a hobby that will vanish when the game does.

A lot of people only see it as numbers. One of the issues is that the concept of growing and being social has changed to be "i see someone with large numbers, now I want that" instead of "I want to be social and interact with people". It became a game rather than an interaction.
