The Gulf states & Israel depend on water desalination to live. If Israel & US break the taboo of bombing vulnerable desal infrastructure, they risk catastrophic harm.

Percent of drinking water from desal:
Israel: 80%
Kuwait: 90%
Saudi Arabia: 70%
Oman: 86%
UAW: 42%

I see I have Seth Kantner, Ordinary Wolves, but haven't read it yet. A novel, not nonfiction.

Mm, I will look up that book. My article is called "The Ontology and Epistemology of Walking: Animality in Karsten Heuer’s Being Caribou: Five Months on Foot with an Arctic Herd," and it's chapter 21, open access, in here: press.ucalgary.ca/books/978155...

I agree. One of my favourite books and films. I published an article on the book.

Just submitted another book review to Alberta Views Magazine, this one on Karsten Heuer's Buffalo Lessons: How Bison Returned to Banff National Park (to be published March 10, 2026). Buy the book; subscribe to and support the magazine.

I can't grasp what Carney is thinking in removing the federal govt from the assessment process unless it is that if Albertans are so happy to breathe, drink and metabolize carcinogens, let them. However, the First Nations who ARE metabolizing those toxins against their will aren't requesting more.

This is barely even funny in the Alberta context, where our premier drove almost all renewables out of the province because she is an oil and Trump (and Noem) fan girl.

Of course Poilievre wants the interim guy, who disqualified himself through his antics at committee. Poilievre wants a guy who will keep up the antics, because Poilievre wants a Parliament that is nothing more than a clip studio for social media.
