Wikipedia gives an answer, but I'd want to see XANES data, not seeing any refs on it.

I'm in an Open Science faculty learning community at my uni, and it's been really interesting to see what different fields are doing. I think I'm the only chem person, the coordinator is comp sci, and we have some psych and other fields involved, which has been fun.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

There are a lot of challenges to teaching large enrollment courses that schools do not adequately support instructors in those classes.

Logistics are challenging, from using the LMS platform to policies for missed classes and assignments. These are not designed for large courses.

When people learn with ChatGPT instead of following their own searches, they end up knowing less, caring less, and producing worse advice, even when the facts are the same.

I wrote an OpEd back in April about how mass deportations, tariffs, cuts to safety net programs, and mass firings and funding cuts to federal institutions were going to undermine food safety and access in the United States.

Nobody would publish it. πŸ˜• I think they thought I was overreacting.

The ACIP vote was tied 6-6 for requiring everyone to get a prescription for the COVID19 vaccine.

Prescriptions will NOT be required.

Importantly, the employer files the petition, so the employer would be required to include a $100,000 check with the petition. But the ban on entry appears to also apply to ANYONE with an H-1B currently, and says that petitions must be "supplemented" with a $100,000 fee, so who knows who pays that.

Unless I'm reading this badly wrong and the administration puts out contrary implementation, it would appear that starting tonight, anyone with an H-1B who doesn't write a $100,000 check to the US government is banned from reentering the country if they're currently outside the US.
