The Israeli army killed Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif and five of his colleagues in a targeted strike on a journalists’ tent outside al-Shifa Hospital. The attack has effectively wiped out all of Al Jazeera’s staff in Gaza City.

Multiple times this year I’ve had coffee with fellow immigrants who grew up in corrupt third world countries and the shared sentiment has been that Americans don’t understand how bad things are going to get.

this would be, frankly, one of the worst governance scandals in portland history. we simply cannot have secret rule by insane people in private clubs. anyone in PEMO or portland soutions involved in this needs to be immediately fired

We need massive changes to Portland car infrastructure. This has happened uncountable times in different parts of this city, and will happen again and again and again.

There are lots of deep assumptions about the design of our city that must be challenged if we’re serious about fixing this problem.

I wish more people had the strength to set aside their ideal of the noble municipal police man and accept the self-description the cops keep giving us

Remembering a recent police contract demand or survey item concerning the restoration of high-speed pursuit privileges. Like it was clearly a thing they wanted, getting the official green light to rocket down residential streets. Half the junk they actually do is like 99% about getting their jollies

We have an incredible location and such dedicated, loving people. We should have a city that reflects those things, instead of surrendering it all for the sake of screeching metal boxes and “convenience”.

The way in which this whole thing is framed feels targeted.

Our city councilors have followed the rules and been clearly very thoughtful about how they conduct themselves, but it still feels like a violation to have these texts leaked in this way.
