and I have to wonder if thats partly the point of it all. Reduce it to useless nonsense. Remove the connections that were genuinely formed to created community and exchange useful information between minority groups especially. Theres power in that connection, and one that far right parties hate.

Forcing a regime to change from the outside rarely ever works though, usually causes even more problems than before. And tbh revolutions very rarely work either. Humans havent really worked out how to properly deal with their own messes.

I was stubborn but it was a shut down type of stubborn (still am at times).

oh it turns out i was lousy at it, apparently, no one was remoted surprised when i came out as autistic or indeed nonbinary. The one who was surprised was me.

Unfortunately the effect of being bullied inside and outside of home, and the gaslighting i was subjected to, meant i didnt have the strength then to stand alone, i had zero self confidence. I didnt want to fit in, but tried not to stand out as it made me a target.

The Guardian is dubious at best anyway.

it took the self diagnosis (after being peer dxed) of autism, to open the closet door to the rest, which had been sealed by years of denial and trying to conform because i believed I was 'wrong' or faulty (i had been told so often enough).

It can take a long time to unpick the masks, misinformation, the tangle of social demands and well, brainwashing of what is expected and 'normal'. It took me over 40 years to begin to understand me and why i felt so out of place, so different from everyone, made more so by the intersectionality.

And you could argue their attitude is just snobbery, and please dont stop for that reason. I stopped doing art decades ago because of people's opinions of what i did, and I regret it bitterly and struggle to restart due to anxiety. Please dont be like me. If you like it thats all that matters.

That and this island has always been colonised since the Brythonic era, every ruler since England was England has been from or descended from the invading population. I cant help but wonder if that has influenced the xenophobia thats so pervasive.

Add to the the rich/elite and the common people/poor have always lived in very different worlds and so could and should never been deemed the same. The first were overlords, the other just trying to survive.

Pretty much all portrayals before this time of the English were propaganda or satire. So we dont actually know the true character of prior to the wars/trauma.

I'm of the strong belief that the stereotype of the English in particular, the stiff upper lip etc, is trauma response to the wars. A whole nation affected and showing PTSD to varying degrees. The 'change' in recent years is where those effects have waned in subsequent generations.

I dont know, i didnt recognise myself at all within the DSM criteria so I initially dismissed the idea, I did however amongst autistic bloggers, posters and creators. But then the DSM is not written by autistic people, and it shows.

Its on the rise, its a problem but we have removed swathes of people from eligibility to get the COVID vaccine....make it make sense.
