Another throwback post to when I learned how to use a serger! This was a patternless t-shirt I made during class at @sincerestudio.bsky.social, but I didn't take seam allowances into account, so it came out too small for my liking. I sent it off to a friend to live its best life.

Another in my 2024 "make stuff for friends to practice" series: a hybrid garden-kitchen apron. It was my first time ever working with a zipper, which is a pattern modification I made myself at the request of my friend. I'm proud of myself for figuring it out!

First time using knit fabric and before I learned how to use a serger, so it's done with zig-zag stitches. As a more masc dresser, it's not my style, so please enjoy this flowy top on me. π

To get better at sewing last year, I downloaded a few free patterns from one of my favorites, @helenscloset.bsky.social, and asked if any of my friends wanted any of the items. First up was this rainbow cooking apron for my partner, Ray, who picked out this funky, rainbow fabric himself.

For this project, I zigzag stitched the shit out of the edge of the hole to attach my scrap fabric. Then I added elbow patches to both sides. Hindsight: elbow patches should be larger & darker, but now my beloved flannel lives on!

This is my first ever sewing project, completed at @sincerestudio.bsky.social during an intro-to-sewing class in April of 2023. Wild to think that I've only/already been sewing for 2 years. Originally, I thought I was only going to sew for practical reasons, but it's so much more than that now.
