Brain Energy Production Vulnerability and Pathophysiology
Just published ! Two chapters encapsulating the idea of constrained brain energy metabolism that lies at the heart of brain vulnerability in aging, development and stress. Result of a week's hard work at the Ernst Strรผngmann forum.

New paper showing a key component of the glutamate-glutamine cycle. NTT4 (SLC6A17) supplies Gln for the presynaptic production of Glu. Needed to sustain rapid ongoing excitatory synaptic transmission and has roles in memory formation and other behaviours.

l-Proline Alters Energy Metabolism in Brain Cortical Tissue Slices - Neurochemical Research
L-Proline (l-Pro) is a non-essential amino acid which, in high concentrations, can cause neurological problems including seizures, although the causative mechanism for this is unclear. Here, we studie...
Just published a little paper about the role of L-Proline in brain metabolism. It stimulates mitochondrial metabolism but doesn't seem to do it by being metabolised (under the conditions studied). Yet another unsolved mystery in brain energy metabolism... Scratches head....
