I’ve been wanting to make something out of acorns for years and I’m so happy with how it came out. I’m having a slice with some butter for breakfast 🥰🎉

Acorns being boiled on a stove. The water is turning brown. This process is called leeching which remove the bitter tannins from the acorns which makes them tastier to eat and helps prevent stomach aches.

Some brown leeched acorn water boiled with sugar to make a syrup.

Acorn loaf!!! The bread itself is dense and a dark brown color. It rose but not much even with two tablespoons of baking powder.

I need to yell abt something real quick - this year I collected a bunch of acorns around the neighborhood and in a local park, leeched them, ground the meat into a flour, and made an acorn loaf with accompanying syrup made from some saved leeching water. It’s so good and hardy with an earthy flavor
