I may have been less curious if the right-wing councillors hadn't banded together to prevent the Lib Dem-led council from charging double council tax on second homes. This would not have affected Mandelson, but the Rothschild family has a reputation for landholdings, although the wealthy are adept at secrecy.

I wrote this elsewhere but thought it was relevant for here too. Maybe double council tax on second homes should be national policy, not for individual councils to decide, with opt-outs (e.g. MPs, holiday chalets).
