February 2026 temperature anomalies across Canada.
Overall warmer than normal, except Southern QC and ON and much of the territories.
St. John's airport got its snowiest February on record (178 cm).

Let me just make a few little adjustments to that title…

β€œHow a scientist with a PhD in Geology and 25 years of experience is helping lead California’s earthquake work”

Way to devalue my experience.

Drop the names of any Canadian companies you’ve seen working with ICE in the comments.

I’m aware of Gardaworld, Roshel, Hootsuite.

Would love to gather any and all other names.

I am more worried about war in Minnesota than in Greenland or Canada.

The US is hours or days away from civil war. This might sound extreme, but if Walz has the Minn National Guard blocking ICE ops, the usual response of the fed govt to governors using NG against feds is to call out the army. 1/

Yukon climate factoid: the temperature at Dawson remained below -15C from December 5 through January 15, and all but three of those days had high temperatures below -20C. Also, 25 days with lows in the 40s below with a low of -49.1C on Jan 4th. #ytwx @jkanadisk.bsky.social @explorenorth.bsky.social

Hey real quick, you don't just fucking 'acquire' country. Start using the correct language that doesn't try to downplay these threats.

Can confirm, really cold. On the plus side, -30ΒΊC has never felt so good.

I mean, a bit of an honour to have experienced this little cold snap. Curious as to when the last time we had a streak of 19 days in a row of -40ΒΊC as well!

That's a sensible way to get through winter starting them early!

Kind of weird to be thinking about buying seeds for spring when this is the current temperature. Thankfully it should warm up in a few days. #DawsonCity #Yukon

I love a good weather streak but I'm happy that this one is coming to an end. Now I can take out the battery from the car, warm it up, and then hope the car will start again! And also for the pipe to my washing machine and bathroom sink to thaw πŸ™ƒ

Casual reminder that the myth of β€œpulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

Dawson City in winter. Everything is covered in snow and the sky is clear. It's the blue hour before sunrise so everything has a blue hue.

Dawson City in the blue hour at -47⁰C about an hour before today's sunrise at 12:12pm. We woke to no ice fog today and wow, what an absolute gift of a day. #DawsonCity #Yukon

Got to -48.6ΒΊC at my house in town, but I also wouldn't trust the readings from that thermometer. Regardless, it's still pretty cold! Thanks for the metric conversion :)

We're on day 13 (or 14?) of temps dipping below -40⁰C and it's...tiring. but if we actually hit -50⁰C then that makes it worth it right?! #DawsonCity #Yukon

Did you feel shaking in Yukon at 1:41 p.m. MST today? That was a M7 #earthquake near the seismically active YK-AK border and 250 km to the west of #Whitehorse.
Shaking was felt across much of Yukon and southeastern AK.

You seem to have the same curse that I do. Some folks felt it in Dawson but I didn't. Only thing I noticed was the lamp swinging lightly in the kitchen.

A few felt it lightly in Dawson City - I didn't, but our kitchen lamp was swaying lightly.
