I'm so sorry, Kate. I live with one of the same family of conditions & some days walking from my house to my car is a marathon. But I do know people who've come back from ME/CFS/PEM, even if it's been a long slow process. I so hope you're one of them ❤️

That said, critics whom I respect have been awed by the imaginative & immersive visuals of the 2nd and 3rd movies even while acknowledging the clunky elements.

I saw the first one, I love good fantasy and had great hopes - but by the time I got home I'd literally forgotten everything but one (visually beautiful, non plot related) scene, the deeply cringe "love" scene, and the blank space where Sam Worthington's lead performance should've been.

Don't forget he was ALSO having an 'affair' with a much younger staffer - while being married. When did he even get time to eat and sleep, let alone do the job he was being paid the big bucks for?

That's interesting! And makes sense given their relationship. But (and I admit I haven't read 'Caves of Steel' or 'Roads Will Roll' for decades) it's the Caves descriptions of the strips that are still vivid in my mind & would have provided a good quote.

There are absolutely beautiful and evocative sections! And the overall narrative is really powerful. I just think I'm like other readers in finding it hard to engage with most of the characters.

Came here to say this! Yes, there's a great section where Lije shows Daneel the robot how to 'run the strips', jumping from the slowest moving walkways to the faster ones then back again.
