It will never not be true that one of the best ways to improve as a writer or a critic is to read A Lot. And not just your field. Be curious. It's so beautiful to be able to make connections but also give yourself a broad base of connections to make!

If you sell a review copy in a garage sale years after your review, is it still unethical? I know many board reviewers who use such sales to get rid of games to make space for new games.

Donating to a charity is monetizing it since it’s a gift in kind which can be used to get a credit on income tax if you are a professional reviewer.

To me, all those books were sourcebooks or supplements. They were not needed but added to the game. Expansion is another good word for them.

Are they cancelling the TMNT, Marvel Superheroes and Hobbit sets for Universes Beyond? Those have magic systems as well.

According to wikipedia entry, folks have used the term to refer those Complete books as well as Traveller supplements from the 1970s. Ref: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Splatbook

They predate WoD. In the late 1980s, there were the Complete Handbook series for AD&D 2nd.

Well, there goes my interest in getting the Star Trek MtG set they were planning to release in November 2026.
