Digital black and white ink illustration of a dark skinned man with curly hair, thick eyebrows, and stubble. He’s wearing a shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows and an open vest. He’s wiping his hands on a stained cloth. Fanart of the character David Martelo from the KJ Charles novel Band Sinister.

Some more fanart. I’m playing around with some effects.

Digital drawing in the style of an 19th century engraving. Illustrating a moment from the novel Band Sinister by KJ Charles, where the characters Guy Frisby and Philip Rookwood climb an oak tree. Guy is helping Philip up by clasping his hand. At the bottom of the image, there's a quote from the book which reads: "I haven't touched him before."

Some more fanart of @kjcharleswriter.com's Band Sinister. This was the first scene I drew, because it's so visually striking. Even though drawing someone climbing a tree was very tricky. 🫥

I'm trying to get better at character consistency, also drawing silly little outfits.

Finished up the paintings from yesterday. I'm decently happy with how three of them turned out.

30-minute practice (plus like 30 seconds for the background). Trying to make myself feel cozy by drawing cozy things.

To the left: Cartoony drawing of 17th century European man in a selfie-pose in front of the Hagia Sophia, rendered like an ink-illustration. To the right: text that reads “Xth of Whatever 1650-something
Greetings friends & enemies,
I be still in Constantinople, for mine short king, King Karl (se)X Gustav of Sweden. Had a drink the Turks call "cafe" made from Egyptian peas or something. `Tis slurp`d thrueth the lips at about the temperature of the fires of H--l. It sucketh most badly. Tastes like fried pea wash-off. These Turks are mad weird, God bless. Claes Rålamb”

Reminds me of a book I read way back about a woman who accidentally transferred a billion pounds into the wrong account at her bank job. So she flees to a Picturesque English Village where her friend owns a pub or smn and everyone shares her hobby of knitting Christmas puds. Also there's a man.

There are alternatives to most of not all of these shitty overpriced/subscription based programs. Open source free stuff or just paid software that you can just BUY and OWN. I refuse to pay a subscription for any software and I never feel like I'm missing out.

Some alien space birds. I imagine them as the “dogs” of the tree-dwelling sapients of their native planet.
