I live by a philosophy of “distrust the infrastructure”. Nothing is stopping Discord from just lying and putting your selfie up in a database. But if you’ve ever posted a pic of yourself on a server, it’s in one already. Decide how you want to use Discord and other services moving forward.

I can tell you as someone working in tech that no company WANTS to do shit like this. But in an age where all large countries are beginning to require companies to comply or risk getting shut down, you will see this more.
