In fact I failed the first quest you do after clearing the credits as well!

I feel like it's super popular to shit on this game right now but I think people are shitting on it for the wrong reasons.
I was personally super impressed by a lot of things in the game. They did try hard with this one.

I finished the story at twenty hours. I enjoyed not using the mount all the time and when I did I only used the auto pilot when I got lost.
I still carted many times. I outright failed a few quest actually.
I didn't get as punished as hard as I did when fighting some stuff in older games, but died.

The food you cook could be for the starving story people, not you. They then react and are thankful, you remember that and see how impactful it is.

The story itself could have been better, but it actually has real people moments now and not just dudes at a table talking about reasons to kill stuff.

Then they could force you to make a meal and go over skills again.
You can tie that into the story, too.
Your hunter could be soemone who gets messed up by a big monster and end up in the camp with no armor - vets get a chance to play naked, new players are forced to learn how to suit up

Instead of taking the controls and camera away from you in walk-and-talk sections they should have forced you to make an armor set and let you choose based on whether you want a specific skill/defense number and then explain how you can do that in the future by yourself.

Furthemore I don't think fighting monsters being easy isn't actually the thing Capcom should be implementing to make the game more welcoming. That's not the issue people were ever having. It's all the management and prep that should have better tutorialization.

Monster Hunter Wilds discourse being dominated by difficulity, something you can change on the fly, is really annoying. I played half of the story in beginning armor, when I started getting two shot I made a set I liked and then was fine for a bit until I was getting two shot again at the end.
