I was introduced to Magical Athlete over the weekend and ended up enjoying it way more than I thought I would. It was absolute chaos in the best way possible

Why should I write better when a machine can do it for me?
Because actually no one can do it for you, because your voice is unique among all the people on earth. Siri never petted a horse's neck. Alexa has never been ghosted by the captain of the football team. But you have lived, your heart is beating, you have suffered, and you have something important to say. It's a human's job, to use words, and whatever job you give to a machine, that part of your brain goes dark. Maybe it's worth it when it comes to remembering phone numbers and directions, but when that part of your brain that uses words goes dark, that's a vast area that's very close to your soul. Don't let some internet platform convince you that what you have to say and create isn't worthwhile. Words are the echo of your soul. Honing that echo matters.

this iconic advertising copywriter named Kathy Hepinstall Parks died over the weekend and I wanted to share something from her website I thought Bluesky would like

I'm reading Daytripper for the first time, and I cannot help but stare at every panel. It is such a beautifully drawn (and written!) book

I don't know how, but this series keeps getting better and better with each issue. This was my favorite one yet. Kudos to the entire team!

So, I was laid off by my job this week after 13 years.

Not only that, but it happened as bills from my recent heart attack-related medical visits come due.

Because of that, I'm doing a big sale for SKTCHD/Off Panel related things, so now's a good time to subscribe if you can...because I need it!

Currently reading Plague House from @michaelwconrad.bsky.social and @davechisholmcomics.com, and I love how Dave handled this sequence. It's like reverse word balloons. I've never seen a comic do this before

We're an indie publisher who actively avoids Amazon; instead we work directly with bookstores and distribute through comics distros only.

During this anti-prime week, take a look at our Kickstarter campaign that needs a little extra love to get funded by the end of the weekend!

I've yet to read a book from Bulgilhan Press that I didn't enjoy. They're putting out some very cool and unique books that you don't typically see anywhere else

My favorite part of traveling is hitting up the local comic shops and finding treasures in the back issue bins. I drove up to Duluth, MN today for Grandma's Marathon (my second marathon!) and managed to check out a couple shops

Peter Milligan and Mike Allred's X-Force/X-Statix is pretty celebrated these days, but the first Darwyn Cooke fill-in issue is fantastic. Not only does Darwyn draw the hell out of this, but it also injects a lot of humanity into a character who was largely seen as an asshole up until that point.

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.
