Like, describing it as an unholy union of ULTRAKILL & Neon White's gameplay with Nu-Marathon's art style simply does not do this insanity justice.

This is the gen that gave us Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Dishonored, and goddamn Bayonetta but also killed arena shooters for good and replaced it with Call of Duty.

Kinda crazy that this gen had some of my absolute favorite games of all time while at the same time being the start of my falling out with AAA games.

I am kind of scared about how fast all of these sites are kind of just pointing the gun at you to hand over your personal information. Feels like the opposite of everything i learned about internet safety when i was in elementary school

I kind of want a demake of Nightfire but in the style of Goldeneye, but with all of the enhancements to the gameplay lol

Kind of wild how easy it is to just dismiss a game because licensed games were often synonymous with shovelware.

I think the only thing I'm not liking so far is that the game is very obviously a console shooter from this era in that it has aboslutely massive deadzones on the sticks and no way to adjust the sensitivity that I can see.

Like, did I have a huge blind spot for licensed games or what?

And yeah, there are moments where subtlety gets thrown out the window and you're going to have to shoot everything that moves to survive, but that's actually par for the course for Bond. Like, it even has cursor aiming like in GE/PD when games were moving away from that thanks to Halo.

Like, there are alternate routes through an early part of the game and I can stealth through those parts, something that was far more basic in GE & PD. Hell, I could even hold up guards if I was sneaky and punch them in the face to disable them which was great.

And what the hell? This game is legit kind of great? It does everything I wanted out of a sequel to Goldeneye and even Perfect Dark; it fleshes out the gameplay of those games perfectly while still being simple enough that you can just pick it up and play and have fun with it.

So I was watching videos of level mods for Goldeneye N64 and of course the algorithm thought I wanted to watch every video of every Bond game ever made, but one that stuck out to me was Nightfire. And apparently the console versions are way better so I fired it up in an emulator and played a bit-🧵
