He wasn’t meant or wanted to be Jugdral’s hero. And just like the villagers in his army did for Northern Thracia, he fought for Jugdral anyway. In FE4, holy blood feels like it’s on a pedestal. In FE5, the character who seems to be following that kicks that pedestal down to praise deeds instead

Leif surpassing Seliph in history is also a detail I hold very dear. Seliph was the Scion of Light before he set foot out of Tirnanog, crafted into a hero by the people. Only the people of Northern Thracia wanted to craft Leif into their hero yet he kept going well beyond what was expected of him.

Completely agree with absolutely all of this! A big reason I love Thracia so much is its uplifting of everyone and how it feels like a rejection of how glorified the holy blood system feels in FE4. Most of the cast isn’t special, before or after the game, but they’re still able to be heroes.

And there’s Dean and Eda looking like Dáinn and Njörun 2.0. Thracia being full of so many Crusader look a likes without their Holy Blood is another little detail I’m obsessed with, I’m so curious if there was meant to be anything behind it
