recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best. It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence relies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.

Like, tropes can help get some things across, sure, but sometimes trope-ish stuff happens in real life, & it feels more natural & easy to depict when it is inspired by my personal lived experience. Creating by experience is better approach for me than creating by imitation.

Honestly this is something I'm personally struggling with & this post is a good reminder, I'm gonna write this down somewhere so I can actually stop getting consumed in & frustrated by attempting to imitate other tropes & stuff instead of just making what is inspired by my experience in life

it's frustrating to me when people say they're making art inspired by ghibli or lynch or whomever. i understand the marketing utility but sometimes it feels like we get these shallow aesthetic takes on these materials because people aren't drawing from their firsthand experiences, just other media

I think it might be good to save the bookmarks then delete it if you'd wanna keep those & don't have a tonnn of bookmarks. Might be good business-wise to stay there if u wanna make money there from smth like commissions but otherwise it's not rly worth keeping an account there imo.
