A spiral galaxy, seen close-up. Its core is a round spot that glows intensely bright, crowned by eight long and spikes that extend across the galaxy, artefacts of the telescope’s structure. Its disc is an oval shape with edges made of very thick and cloudy arms of gas and dust, mostly blue but paler and brighter around patches of stars. Wisps of darker dust also fill the inner disc and swirl off the ends of the arms.

The Helix Nebula appears as an eye in the center of the image. The outer layers appears yellow, while the inner layers are a darker blue color. There are many blue stars visible around the nebula. The background of the image shows dark red space.

This image of the Ring Nebula, taken by Webb’s Near-Infrared Camera, appears as a distorted doughnut. The nebula’s inner cavity hosts shades of blue and green, while the detailed ring transitions through shades of orange in the inner regions and pink in the outer region. The ring’s inner region has distinct filament elements. Stars litter the scene, with a particularly prominent star with 8 long spikes in the top right corner.

Quina, the mysterious seer from the Ruzebow is standing in front of a ruin at night, looking at the viewer from above. He is clad in a purple-red-ish cape decorated with little tassels and silver ornaments, only his face, a bit of his hair and his feet are visible. His eyes glow a magenta pink and his smile is sinister.
A Ruzader peeks from the crumbled wall behind Quina at him, suspicious.

I challenged myself to draw a more elaborate background than I'm used to

Two views of the same object are shown side by side, split evenly. The Hubble ultraviolet and visible light observation is at left, and the Webb mid-infrared observation is at right. Both show an angled pair of spiral galaxies, IC 2163 at top left, and NGC 2207, at bottom right. They appear to be overlapping at the center diagonal, with the smaller IC 2163 behind the larger NGC 2207.

Two galaxies collided to form this unique shape. It's thought that the smaller galaxy passed through the center of the larger.

This is an image of MyCn18, a young planetary nebula located about 8,000 light-years away, taken with the Wide Field and Planetary Camera 2 (WFPC2) aboard the Hubble Space Telescope (HST).

This Hubble image reveals the true shape of MyCn18 to be an hourglass with an intricate pattern of 'etchings' in its walls. This picture has been composed from three separate images taken in the light of ionized nitrogen (represented by red), hydrogen (green), and doubly-ionized oxygen (blue).

The results are of great interest because they shed new light on the poorly understood ejection of stellar matter which accompanies the slow death of Sun-like stars. In previous ground-based images, MyCn18 appears to be a pair of large outer rings with a smaller central one, but the fine details cannot be seen.

The billion stars in galaxy UGC 8091 resemble a sparkling snow globe in this festive Hubble Space Telescope image from NASA and ESA (European Space Agency).

The dwarf galaxy is approximately 7 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Virgo. It is considered an "irregular galaxy" because it does not have an orderly spiral or elliptical appearance. Instead, the stars that make up this celestial gathering look more like a brightly shining tangle of string lights than a galaxy.

Some irregular galaxies may have become tangled by tumultuous internal activity, while others have formed by interactions with neighboring galaxies. The result is a class of galaxies with a diverse array of sizes and shapes, including the diffuse scatter of stars that is this galaxy

Here is a picture of NGC7000 the North America Nebula, produced using with FITS Liberator. I used FITS files from the DSS2 in two bandwidth, Red and Blue. The Green layer were computer generated. The full size image is some 15000x15000 pixels (yes, more than 200 megapixel!), resolution of one arcsec per pixel. Here is just a small preview.
