Blue Moon Aurora

I was talking to someone about previous Solar Cycles, and it reminded me of this night from 2015.
A full moon rose and completely washed out the reds and greens of the aurora with the bright blue of a daytime sky, while streetlights colour the waves.

There’s something truly grounding about being completely surrounded by nature during the fall. These beautiful colours create such an immersive experience. I live for these autumn trails🍁🍂🍃

A clear glass ball sits on wet ground at the edge of a shallow puddle. The sphere refracts an early dawn landscape, with a pale blue sky and a thin warm band of light near the horizon. A lone bare tree appears inside the ball, flipped upside down by refraction. Below it, the puddle reflects the glass ball almost perfectly, creating the illusion of two stacked spheres and a doubled, mirrored scene. An adult humpback whale diving, tail flukes forming a t-shape above the water. To her right, her much much smaller calf has back arched and dorsal fin up, preparing to follow mom beneath the calm surface of the water

Next up from the whalewatch: a mother humpback teaching her little calf how to dive. :) You can also see we were out on one of the haziest days in Maui history--the tradeoff being it was also one of the calmest days out in Ma'alae'a I've ever seen. :) 📷🌿🦑
