Optical illusion of a woman bent over some papers. Her sunglasses are pushed up and she is wearing a hair band so the top of her head looks exactly like a Muppet face

Sorry I know the world is in a terrible fix but I've been laughing at this for ten minutes now

If someone is going to get queer bashed if they show up as their full selves in public. If someone is going to get COVID (and become futher disabled) if they show up in public. I mean-- what is it that you expect THEM to do? Maybe YOU are the one who needs to do something to make things accessible.

Rates of death and disability from any virus are irrelevant if they are preventable.

Any debate about percentages that does not first accept the need to prevent are just debates about how many people to allow to die and suffer so existing societal norms can remain mostly undisturbed.

You may think mono is just a thing you get in college but oh hey guess what it can reactivate decades later and cause MECFS

β€œI realized then that people understand a β€˜personal responsibility’ approach to Covid is bullshit.

Because when you suggest they take personal responsibility for causing harm to others, they can’t handle it.”

Three-panel meme showing a woman speaking and a man listening from behind a wall. In the first panel, she says β€œMasks don’t work,” and the man replies β€œBe honest.” In the second, she says β€œI don’t want to wear one,” and he again says β€œBe honest.” In the final panel, she says β€œI just don’t wanna be reminded of the scary pandemic,” and the man responds, β€œThank you.”

This is what it really comes down to.

Masks are a reminder the pandemic isn’t over.

πŸ”ΉCOVID is airborne
πŸ”ΉEach infection carries cumulative risk
πŸ”ΉLong COVID has no cure
πŸ”ΉThe pandemic isn’t over
πŸ”ΉWearing a mask is still one of the best ways to protect yourself and others

Stay informed. Stay safe.

I'm late Gen X and all I'm saying is Millennials got fucked harder than anyone else. They were raised on post 9/11 American media and government and it's just been an endless stream of shit. And I'm not even talking about the 09 collapse. The wars, watching guns shred schools, social media insanity

OK where I'm losing my mind, is this part.

Those of us in the covid cautious community are often called anti-vax for the assertion that the vaccine does not eliminate transmission. Not saying it doesn't HELP, but it's imperfect.

Have you been vaccinated? Have you had covid since? SO ARE WE WRONG?!

Respect the β€œcan’t” People with disabilities and chronic illnesses will often say weΒ β€œcan’t” do something when technically, we can, but not without severe consequences we’re not willing to pay. Since, in my experience…

I highly recommend anyone who's chronically ill or helps take care of someone who is to read this. Changed my life for the better - a necessary & beneficial paradigm shift I want to popularize.

It's about abled arrogance & the realities of chronic illness.

When I asked about getting air filtering for hospitals someone informed me that ALL hospitals are filtered. Really? Why are so many still having outbreaks then?
Why do I have to tell HCW that I won’t be more comfortable if I take my mask off during a procedure?

It's making me really angry that people would ever doubt long COVID. My life is ruined compared to just before my last infection. Illness, debt, relationships even.

I feel like one of the most critical understanding gaps is this: Energy equals time. If you don't have energy, you don't have hours in your day. Most people can't imagine fitting all their ADL, let alone a half-hour of comfort tv, in a single-hour day.

27.02.2026 17:12 β€” πŸ‘ 15    πŸ” 4    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I also think it's good acute deaths from Covid have decreased. Yay vaccines making acute cases less severe.

But quality of life turning to shit also hugely negatively impacts folks.

27.02.2026 16:29 β€” πŸ‘ 75    πŸ” 6    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

There's been discourse on Long Covid on this site the past few days. I think some people are thoroughly underestimating how hellish chronic illness can make you feel, even if you aren't at an immediate risk of dying.

27.02.2026 16:26 β€” πŸ‘ 183    πŸ” 49    πŸ’¬ 10    πŸ“Œ 7

People do die of Long Covid. People also kill themselves because symptoms are unbearable, which is true across chronic illnesses.

27.02.2026 16:27 β€” πŸ‘ 76    πŸ” 10    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Disability Studies is an important space for me, but I cannot get over the fact that people in this field will not acknowledge that long COVID exists or that theyre complicit in "back to normal" no precautions needed bullshit. 1/2

27.02.2026 21:23 β€” πŸ‘ 33    πŸ” 4    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 1

Side eyeing everyone who refuses to taje precautions while profiting off of disabled narratives or disabled data. Materially benefitting from research ON disabled people, while also disabling your research subjects (and others), is an abject refusal to shift from theory to praxis. 2/2

27.02.2026 21:23 β€” πŸ‘ 27    πŸ” 4    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 1

Heck . your radio volume up and down.. station left to right

The whole point to keep your hands on the wheel if that's the goal then touch screens are the antithesis to all of this.

They also suck with gloves on during the cold winter

27.02.2026 20:53 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

They should not be a thing that drivers use

They don't provide haptic feedback at a meaningful way.

For example a great way to create a single finger air conditioner control would be left and right would be temperature up and down will be fan now it could be a d-pad on your steering wheel

27.02.2026 20:51 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Unfortunately there are no rigorous standards on how we lay out gauges ect for maximum safety..

With a result of now everything is easy to code touch screen but dangerous is hell for the user and people around it

Shared this quote from the depths of cognitive fog so I’m relieved to be able to say I stand by it πŸ™ƒ The harm ignorant therapists/psychs cause to clients with Long Covid can be just as enormous as the harm MDs inflict. (APAB until proven otherwise!)

This is long. We got here because people eroded their ability to have empathy to other people they only had empathy towards normal a value that cannot exist anymore

Like I know it must be incredibly exhausting for some of you to keep reading our bullshit, asking anyone to care or wear masks or even care that we disappeared from your spaces because we had to choose to protect ourselves, but what are we supposed to do?

And you wonder how we got *here* πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ«
