It's making me really angry that people would ever doubt long COVID. My life is ruined compared to just before my last infection. Illness, debt, relationships even.

I feel like one of the most critical understanding gaps is this: Energy equals time. If you don't have energy, you don't have hours in your day. Most people can't imagine fitting all their ADL, let alone a half-hour of comfort tv, in a single-hour day.

I also think it's good acute deaths from Covid have decreased. Yay vaccines making acute cases less severe.

But quality of life turning to shit also hugely negatively impacts folks.

There's been discourse on Long Covid on this site the past few days. I think some people are thoroughly underestimating how hellish chronic illness can make you feel, even if you aren't at an immediate risk of dying.

People do die of Long Covid. People also kill themselves because symptoms are unbearable, which is true across chronic illnesses.

Disability Studies is an important space for me, but I cannot get over the fact that people in this field will not acknowledge that long COVID exists or that theyre complicit in "back to normal" no precautions needed bullshit. 1/2

Side eyeing everyone who refuses to taje precautions while profiting off of disabled narratives or disabled data. Materially benefitting from research ON disabled people, while also disabling your research subjects (and others), is an abject refusal to shift from theory to praxis. 2/2

For example a great way to create a single finger air conditioner control would be left and right would be temperature up and down will be fan now it could be a d-pad on your steering wheel

Unfortunately there are no rigorous standards on how we lay out gauges ect for maximum safety..
