The reflexive genuflecting to members of the military is poisonous. They're citizens just like you. They're not inherently better because of the job they signed up for. And they're not necessarily more morally compromised than a lot of people who work in other industries.

At the very least, I think we can stop treating military service like something that's inherently noble and honorable. It's a job people signed up just like any other, including the possibility of death.
