Hi, Andrew. Your post is like the first line of a novel I would love to read.
19.12.2024 02:11 โ ๐ 17 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Just trying to understand: Do you mean that industries should be comparing effectiveness of the use of AI? Or that they should be comparing its output?
15.12.2024 04:01 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I just read the piece on imposter syndrome. Very powerful. Iโd love to spend time with the whole volume.
15.12.2024 03:58 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This looks so helpful. Thank you so much!!
15.12.2024 01:48 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Iโm gathering readings to share with students. Were there any you used in the course you would recommend? Thanks for the reply!!
15.12.2024 01:45 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I use the Amazon Alexa appโs assistive tech feature to read Kindle ebooks out loud to me. So, both? :)
15.12.2024 01:38 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Does he get any benefit from assistive tech? I canโt read long form writing without it, myself, which causes me to overestimate its value to others.
14.12.2024 15:06 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I can tell Iโm going to keep thinking about this for a long time. Thanks for that. Genuinely.
14.12.2024 14:53 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0That made my brain a happy brain.
14.12.2024 14:36 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Have you found articles or essays about AI that would be a good fit for the text? Iโm designing a first year composition course on the topic of AI and would love to know what other folks are sharing with their students!
14.12.2024 14:30 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Have any First Year Composition instructors designed a course ABOUT AI for freshmen? If so, can we chat? What are you having your students read? #ai #firstyearcomposition #teachingwriting
14.12.2024 14:21 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I am a photographer who would be genuinely delighted to collaborate with a researcher! I donโt have the qualifications to apply for this grant but would love to do this sort of thing nevertheless!
12.12.2024 15:04 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Not recommending this because I havenโt evaluated it myself, but I am eager to explore: My local public library account can be used access newspapers.com, which apparently maintains extensive digital archives of local newspapers.
12.12.2024 14:58 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This collection of articles is so helpful. Thank you!!
25.11.2024 20:50 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I like this! I worry that AI is like a Doomsday Dunning-Kruger machine, though. While it definitely excels at structure and style, it presupposes that there is such a thing as a universal structure and style. And rather confidently! Is there? And is its output representative?
25.11.2024 20:48 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0First post. Here goes. AI is pretty good at summarizing text. Developing writers frequently struggle to read whatโs actually on the page in their own writing.
Can AI help students develop better mental representations of their own texts?

Same!
25.11.2024 20:34 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0๐ค Plot twist: I GAVE seniors an AI draft to revise
Had to change 50-90%
Add course evidence
Explain their changes

Result: Better essays, zero cheating, and students discovering AI's limits ๐

I love this a lot. Students really do want to write well. But theyโve been taught that, above all, writing well means writing without error. What if AI can help show exactly how terrible error-free writing can be?
