It’s the easiest deal ever. We’re in this fight to get it done.

The American people know who’s to blame.

When asked who’s responsible if subsidies expire:
– 39% blame Trump
– 37% blame Republicans in Congress
– 22% say Democrats

They’re already losing on this issue. 61% of Americans view Trump’s July mega-spending bill unfavorably.

If we don’t win this fight to extend tax credits:

➡️ Marketplace premiums will more than double (from $888 to $1,904 on average).
➡️4 million people could lose coverage.
➡️42% of enrollees say they’d go without coverage if their costs double.

These programs are incredibly popular with 64% of Americans viewing the ACA favorably.

➡️ 78% of Americans want Congress to extend the ACA subsidies, including 59% of Republicans.

6. People want to know when this is going to end. 

The answer is simple. It’s when Trump decides to do his fucking job.

Ending this shutdown happens when he decides he's going to do the work and put some Democrats and Republicans in a room and get a deal done.

5. The solution is simple. 

He has to lead. He’s said it himself. The president is the person who has to solve a shutdown.

Trump is the FIRST president in the history of America that's actively creating unemployment.

Since January, Trump has fired or pushed out 275,000 public employees. 

That's 275,000 people who are not working because of Trump.

4. Instead of negotiating, Trump is firing more people. 

Trump's plan for this shutdown is to fire more public employees, more Americans.

The fact of the matter is, there will be a ton of people all over the country who won't be able to pay their bills because they aren’t getting a paycheck. It’s terrible for their families and terrible for the economy.

I'm suspending my pay during the shutdown. I know other members are as well.

3. A shutdown is very, very costly – particularly for federal workers. 

Hundreds of thousands of federal workers are going to either work or be furloughed, but none of them will get paid.

22 million Americans depend on the Affordable Care Act subsidies to help pay for their health care. 

They will lose subsidies on January 1st.

If we don't act now, millions of those people will lose health care.

2. Democrats just want a budget + healthcare. 

It is a very simple negotiation. All we are looking for is to negotiate a budget that includes protecting your health care.

The most urgent part of the health care situation is these ACA subsidies.

1. To pass a budget, it has to be bipartisan. 

This is the first time Trump has had to work with Democrats and he’ll have to work with us to get out of this.
