GOAT recognises GOTY?
21.09.2025 16:08 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0In case you missed it, the Katsuhiro Otomo Manben episode silently revealed that he keeps a Bloodborne statue in his studio next to his television screen.
21.09.2025 14:21 โ ๐ 19 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 2super deformed figurines of the cast of Twin Peaks.
SD Twin Peaks figures made for an issue of Hobby Japan (issue unknown, but safe to say early 90s). Not my scan, so I gotta track down this issue.
17.09.2025 13:50 โ ๐ 724 ๐ 303 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 30The models were designed, sculpted and painted by Yลซsuke Takayanagi and his team. Footage of the animation process can be found in the game's ending credits. He also designed the creatures for Maten Densetsu: Senritsu no Ooparts and the dragon maquettes for Panzer Dragoon Orta.
20.09.2025 17:18 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Neo Organic Bioform is a 1995 dungeon crawler exclusive to the 3DO. Unlike other Octagon productions, N.O.B. abdicated the anime look and embraced the gruelling complexities of stop-motion animation. The inspired mutant puppet roster is only coyly showcased by the insipid cover design.
20.09.2025 17:18 โ ๐ 17 ๐ 8 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Kitล's work for Wachenrรถder displays many stylistic similarities to the above piece. He is also credited as the designer of the airship featured in the Treasure Hunter G guide cover; as well as co-author of the seldom seen egg-shaped robot model from Elemental Gear Gimmick alongside Takayuki Takeya.
20.09.2025 17:09 โ ๐ 12 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Glimpses of the additional - and if I may say so, rather exquisite - modelling and character design work for Baroque by Tony Kim and Noriaki Kaneko can be found in the pages of the 1999 "Distorted Delusions" guidebook.
20.09.2025 17:09 โ ๐ 12 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Despite its stylish editing, I always suspected the cover for the original SS and PS Baroque editions featured an actual model, as opposed to a CG render. Today's Baroque-Ya press release made this pristine photo available. I have no reservations attributing this work to Eisaku Kitล.

Couldn't get a firm grasp of Dreams of Another from its fleeting demo, which only piqued my curiosity. It finds no parallel with previous @baiyon.bsky.social / Pixel Junk collaborations. Except for some vague remembrance of Beyond Eyes and 11:11, it's quite unlike any other game I've ever played.
16.09.2025 13:20 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Spent a fair bit of time this weekend revisiting the episodes that birthed this most macabre horror game series. My unsubtle posture towards game remakes should now be known to all who follow me. And yet I would readily embrace a new rendition of Akai Chล, were it to be directed by Shibata-San.

I wrote about Siren, in celebration of what was, at the time, the 20th anniversary of the game.
I am grateful for the opportunity to make a small contribution and help the indefatigable Jon Doyle and the team at Lost In Cult make 006 a reality.
Truly, all good things come to those who wait.
Sai No Ohanashi is the title of a small yet cheerful booklet contained in the rare preview edition of the 1998 Shift game XI. The illustrations were created by childrenโs book author Dan Yaccarino, while the text was authored by Keiko Hidaka.

Apologies. I have made a new post.

I'm no authority on any subject, not least of which Manga. From what little I know, I would consider Morohoshi to be one of the greatest Manga artists, and possibly the greatest author. I watched this NHK doc for the second time yesterday and recommend it wholeheartedly.

The newly emerged discmaster archive search tool came bearing gifts. Bsky user rabidrodent dug up crisp new screens from the Mario VB demo that Nintendo dispreferred over the 3D appeal of its minigame concept, which later became Mario Clash. What made this cancelled game so unique? ๐งต

My goal of submitting a serviceable scan of this book was made nearly impossible as a result of its unique format and my reluctance to remove its binding. I also wished I had the time to translate it. Perhaps I'll save that for the 30th anniversary.

In a sense, the book and its openly humorous, if incredibly elaborate myth do mirror the peculiar nature of the game concept itself. It also relates to a time in the not so distant past when wildly experimental game concepts were still eagerly embraced by major companies.

09.08.2025 13:17 โ ๐ 27 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Many years ago, I wrote about this very book at some length in my blog Eastern Mind, amazed as I was that someone had gone to such extremes to compose so intricate and bewildering a backstory for a videogame.

Authored by Yutaka Saito himself, this book is the centrepiece of the game's broader viral marketing campaign in Japan, based on the uncanny premise that the virtual creature Seaman is real, that it was venerated by ancient Egyptians and studied by French and Japanese scientists.
