One can only hope that this helps students to see the truth-the Conservative government is not setting them up for success.

I've been wondering if this will turn out to be the beginning of the end of the conservative youth movement.

Federally, the CPC is often leading in the youngest age bracket.

Will this provincial issue be enough to shift the momentum away?

I wish we had 1:1 and small group funded trauma/mental health counselling in #OntEd to offer our students instead of teachers trying our best to patch together little bits of strategies like this for kids who are struggling (in between reading lessons). But I guess this will have to do.

We spent some time talking about feeling safe now, what we can and can’t control, and how we can pull our brains back to the present when worrying about the things we can’t control. We talked about tuning into sounds in our immediate environment to help ground us in the present.

They couldn’t understand why the grownups in charge “always want to kill people instead of helping people”. They talked through their worries and made connections to memories of violence and feeling unsafe before coming to Canada.

My small group vocabulary lesson was abandoned today because some students were worried about their extended family members and friends living in areas of conflict. They watch the news. They hear their parents talking. They are scared, angry, and sad.
